project runway finale + happy weekend!

Hello there everyone, hope the week has treated you well :) Let's celebrate the fact that it's Friday and the weekend is right around the corner! I have big plans this weekend-my sorority's semi-formal is Saturday night so I definitely have some fun things in store for me these next few days. I would love to hear about your weekend plans-are you starting to celebrate the holiday?

As promised yesterday, here's a recap of the Project Runway finale that aired last night. I hate to say it, but when the winner was announced, I certainly wasn't shocked. Even though I'm not a personal fan of hers I have to say that Irina's 13 piece collection was gorgeous. The way she incorporated the helmets and accessories definitely made her looks stand out against all the rest. I just wish she would have used a wider color palette-seeing all that black walking down the runway was just too gloomy! I suppose it's no surprise that I was cheering for Carol Hannah to win-I loved every single one of her pieces. I know she'll still be highly successful so I can't wait to see what she's doing now that the show has ended. As for Althea's collection, I applaud her for thinking outside the box. I'm just personally not a fan of the sci-fi theme. No doubt all these ladies are talented (and young!) so I'm definitely eager to see where they go from here.

My favorite looks from Carol Hannah, Althea, and Irina.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the finale-do you think Irina did the best job at Bryant Park?

tasty thursdays: a thanksgiving feast {round 2}

Hello and happy Thursday to you all! We're now only a week away from Thanksgiving, can you believe it? It sure feels as though November has just been flying by. It's now less than a month until I'll be home for Christmas Break. There are a lot of things to get done between now and then however, so I know I will be kept busy up until the very last day. That's part of the fun of the holiday season though, don't you think? As promised last week, I'm featuring even more delicious dishes to serve up on your Thanksgiving table this year. Hope you enjoy this installment of Tasty Thursdays! There won't be a series Thursday with it being the holiday, but things will be back as schedules after that.

2. Corn Pudding with Cheddar and Chives from The Runaway Spoon.
3. Martha Stewart's Apple, Date, and Ginger Crisp.
4. Caramelized Pear and Blue Cheese Salad from Chaos in the Kitchen.
5. Artichoke and Spinach Dip from Culinary Cory.
6. A complete how-to guide for serving the perfect turkey, from Craftzine.

Enjoy your Thursday.

If you're a Project Runway fan, don't forget to watch part 2 of the season finale tonight! I'll be discussing the results tomorrow :)

fall fashion trend: the season's best outerwear

Happy Monday! It's the start of yet another week, are you ready for it? I was able to enjoy the weather quite a bit this weekend. I also spent last night whipping up several batches of three different kinds of cookies (oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and of course chocolate chip!) with some friends while watching The Ugly Truth. I am a huge Katherine Heigl fan and 27 Dresses not included, this is my favorite movie that she's done. I would love to hear all about your weekends-any chances you did some early holiday shopping? I know, I know, it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. One of my roommates came back from TJ Maxx yesterday with a Santa Clause cookie jar, and my aunt told me to send her my wishlist-HA, like I've even had time to think about that yet! But reality is setting in-there's about a month left of school before my winter break starts so I guess Christmas really isn't too far away after all!

Now that the weather finally seems to be taking a dip (it's still unusually warm here) I thought for today's post I would feature some lovely jackets and outerwear to help keep you warm (and stylish!) this season. I know I can't wait for it to get chilly enough to start wearing my houndstooth print peacoat!

Biker Chic
1. Top Shop, $145.
2. Arden B., $58.
3. Forever 21, $22.80.

Work-all-Day, Party-all-Night
4. Urban Outfitters, $98.
5. Delia's, $87.50.
6. Gap, $98.

Casual
7. Forever 21, $32.80.
8. Marc by Marc Jacobs, $89.40.
9. Zappos, $98.

it's friday (happy weekend!)

Hello there everyone, happy Friday to you all! I am very excited that it is the weekend. The weather has been absolutely wonderful lately, sun shining and warm afternoons are definitely not what I'm used to in November! I definitely plan on taking advantage of the nice weather this weekend-raking leaves, going for walks, and seeing just how beautiful college campus is this time of year. What are your plans this weekend? I'd love to hear them!

Did anyone watch the first episode of the Project Runway season finale last night? I am definitely rooting for Carol Hannah-her designs have been my favorite from the very beginning. I just hope that she gets over her stomach bug and is able to make it to Bryant Park! Who is your favorite designer/who do you think is going to win?

Enjoy the rest of your Friday and the wonderful weekend!

tasty thursdays: a thanksgiving feast {round 1}

Hello there and good morning, happy Thursday to you all! I am very glad to be back to regular posting! Now that school has settled down a little bit, I hope to get back to catching up with some of my favorite fellow bloggers :) As promised yesterday, today's installment of Tasty Thursdays is featuring fabulous recipes to make for Thanksgiving. They're all quite easy to prepare and guarantee wonderful, delicious results :) It's been tradition in my family to make oyster stuffing each year but I think we're going to have to make room on our table for Martha Stewart's chestnut and apple stuffing. What are some of your favorite dishes served on your Thanksgiving table? And of course, next Thursday will feature even more holiday recipes :)

Top Row, left to right: Green Bean Casserole, from Cooking on the Side. Potatoes au Gratin, from Use Real Butter. Butternut Squash with Pecans and Blue Cheese, from Eat Make Read.

Bottom Row, left to right: Pumpkin Walnut Cheesecake, from The Sweetest Kitchen. Chestnut and Apple Stuffing, from Martha Stewart. Cranberry Rum Relish, from Half Baked.

back to regular posting tomorrow...

Hello there everyone, I hope everyone has been enjoying their week thus far. I've been out and away from the blog bubble for some time now, but I'm working to get back into the mix. School has taken over-I've been logging back to back long nights at the library, studying for tests and working on projects, and planning my class schedule for next semester. It has been quite a busy past few weeks! With Thanksgiving fast approaching, my load has lightened a little. I definitely didn't want to miss out on anymore blogging with the holidays coming up, so I will be back in the swing of things tomorrow. Be looking for a Thanksgiving edition of Tasty Thursdays, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Well, time to hit the books (again). On a positive note, the weather has been strangely warm here the past few weeks. I'm wearing flip flops in November!

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

tasty thursdays: happy halloween!

Hello all, happy Thursday! How exciting is it that Halloween is only 2 days away? My friends and I have been looking forward to the weekend for weeks! Even though fall had already started, it's always Halloween that seems to signify the changing of the seasons. Naturally, for this week's Tasty Thursdays, I had to include 6 fun sweet treats to get us all in the Halloween spirit. I made my first batch of fudge almost a year ago and since then I have searching for new recipes to try...so as you can imagine, I am definitely going to give the Halloween layered fudge a try!

1. Halloween Layered Fudge, from Real Mom Kitchen.
2. Chocolate Cupcakes with Almond Buttercream, from What's Cooking in the Orange Kitchen.
3. Caramel Apple Cider, from Our Best Bites.
4. Jack-O'-Lantern Tarts, from Martha Stewart.
5. Halloween Cookie Pizza, from Tablespoon.
6. Pumpkin Mousse, from Country Living.

What are some of your favorite Halloween goodies to bake and eat? And of course, I have to take the typical trick or treat poll: What is your favorite Halloween candy? Mine is Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins :)

project runway + happy weekend!

Hello there, happy Friday to you all-the start to another happy and busy weekend is upon us! I drove back home yesterday and am very glad I did-it's been nothing but gloomy and rainy here so far today. I'm definitely glad to be home, even if it's only for a few days. With three holidays looming right around the corner, being at home is even more exciting. Tonight's plan is to attend a wine tasting with Mom and Dad, then head out to dinner at one of our favorite local seafood restaurants. Maybe we'll even rent a scary movie, curl up by the fireplace, and sip hot cider. I'd love to hear what you have planned for the weekend!

Before I go, I promised yesterday to recap the latest Project Runway episode. Mom and I oohed and aahed over Irina and Gordana's designs. Even though I think Irina can get a little catty in the studio, I can't deny that I've loved most of her pieces. The fact that I liked Gordana's dress surprised me; she usually ranks toward the bottom of the pack for me. I agree with the judge's choice to send Nicholas home-his outfit didn't remind me of Greece at all! And as usual, Carol Hannah created another gorgeous, flowing dress that I'd love to wear. If you watch the show, who was your favorite designer of the night?

My favorite designs of the night: Gordana, Carol Hannah, and Irina.

tasty thursdays: pumpkin

Good morning, happy Thursday to everyone! It's time for another installment of Tasty Thursdays, a regular series of mine that I'm truly look forward to putting together each week (I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!) Staying true to form, I wanted to make this week's theme seasonal. With Halloween right around the corner, what better time than now to whip up sweet treats or savory dishes using pumpkin? Just the color alone is getting me in the festive mood. Perhaps Mom and I will whip up one of these over the weekend :) Enjoy!

Top Row Left to Right: Whip up these Pumpkin Cupcakes with Pumpkin Cheesecake Frosting, from the Cupcake Project, for your next holiday bash. Who needs Starbucks when you have Luna Cafe's recipe for Pumpkin Spice Hot White Chocolate? Forget the traditional pumpkin pie; Two Spoons has a savory version with feta and spinach.

Bottom Row L to R: Cinnamon Spice Pumpkin Bread, from Imperrfections makes a great holiday gift for friends and family-or just keep it all for yourself! No more boring breakfasts thanks to Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal, from Good Life Eats. Bill Granger's Pumpkin Cannelloni, as featured on Not Quite Nigella looks delicious!

Oh, and be sure to stop by tomorrow for a recap of tonight's episode of Project Runway!
